I Like Driving in my Car

Hello, my name is David. Welcome to my blog. There is nothing I like more than hitting the open road and going for a drive in my car. I have always loved everything to do with automobiles. When I was a boy, I had a collection of 208 different toy cars which I would play with all day long. As soon as I was old enough, I began taking driving lessons and the day I passed was the best day of my life. Although I am not a mechanic, my dad taught me lots of neat tricks so I can keep my car in top condition. I hope you enjoy my blog.

Tips on How to Prepare Your Vehicle for Inspection Before Registration Renewal

Automotive Blog

Renewing your vehicle registration is compulsory for you to be able to drive your vehicle in Australia. The Department of Transport allows vehicle owners to renew their vehicle registration up to three months before expiry.  However, to get the licence renewed, your vehicle must be inspected to ensure that it is roadworthy and in compliance with Australia's vehicle safety laws. If your vehicle fails the inspection, you will not be allowed to renew your registration.

Here are the measures that you can take to prepare your vehicle for this inspection so that you can renew the registration and get back on the road.

Carry out a pre-inspection

Consider your vehicle inspection like an exam that you are required to prepare for. Undertake an inspection on your own or together with your auto repairs and service dealer so that you can identify any parts that would jeopardize the inspection. You should pay particular attention to the condition and performance of the following parts:

  • Headlights, signals and stop and warning lights
  • Front and rear-view mirrors
  • Steering, engine and exhaust systems
  • Braking system, tyres and rims
  • Windshield wipers

If you have recently had your car fully serviced, these parts should be in good working condition. Otherwise, you may end up failing the inspection if there are faulty parts or systems.

Undertake necessary repairs

If there are any parts that require repairs or replacement, you need to make sure that you do so before submitting the vehicle for inspection. Note that, if you fail the inspection, you will not be allowed to renew your registration until you address the issues that will be pointed out by the inspector. Also, there is a time limit within which you should take your vehicle for a second inspection. If the period lapses, you will be charged for undertaking another inspection.

Service your vehicle regularly

Registration renewal is an exercise that you will undertake as long as you are a car owner. Once you pass the inspection test, you will be required to maintain the vehicle if you want to go through the next inspection without hitches. As such, make sure that your vehicle is serviced regularly as per the manufacturer's instructions. Take it for the monthly, interim and full service every year, and you will not have issues during the registration inspection process.

Observe these tips to make sure that your vehicle passes the current and subsequent registration renewal inspections. If the vehicle has any performance issues, make sure that they are addressed by a reputed auto dealer before the inspection process.
