I Like Driving in my Car

Hello, my name is David. Welcome to my blog. There is nothing I like more than hitting the open road and going for a drive in my car. I have always loved everything to do with automobiles. When I was a boy, I had a collection of 208 different toy cars which I would play with all day long. As soon as I was old enough, I began taking driving lessons and the day I passed was the best day of my life. Although I am not a mechanic, my dad taught me lots of neat tricks so I can keep my car in top condition. I hope you enjoy my blog.

Buying a Refrigerated Van? Avoid These 4 Costly Mistakes

Automotive Blog

The effective performance of your refrigerated vans depends on how well you designed the specifications for the body of those vans. This article discusses some costly mistakes that you should avoid making as you describe the specifications of your new refrigerated van.

Forgetting the Impact of Insulation on Available Space

Consider the dimensions of the loads that you will be transporting before you order for a refrigerated van having certain interior dimensions. This is because you may need to order for a van with larger dimensions in order to have the desired space once the insulation is installed in the van's interior.

Choosing the Wrong Rear Door

Think about your refrigerated transport needs before you select a door for the back of your van. This consideration is important because different types of rear doors are best suited to different needs. For instance, a roll up door is best suited for transporting items that will all be off-loaded at a single destination. This is because the onrush of external air when the door is rolled up will have no adverse effect on the cargo since it will have reached its destination. However, hinged doors would be a better choice if the van will make many stops as it delivers its cargo to different recipients. The hinged doors limit how much external air can get into the van during the offloading process. You should therefore request for a rear door that will be a good fit for your transportation patterns.

Overlooking Airflow Requirements

Never order a refrigerated van that has just enough interior space to accommodate your standard load. A good refrigerated van should have extra space so that proper airflow can be maintained. For instance, there should be some space beneath the load. Space should also be available above the load. Such space allows conditioned air to circulate freely so that product integrity is maintained by ensuring that uniform temperatures are maintained in all parts of the cargo.

Overlooking the Value of an Interrupt Switch

The specifications that you draw up should stipulate that an interrupt switch should be installed on the van's rear door. Such a switch will cut power to the blower inside the van once you open the door. That power interruption will prevent the fan from sucking warm air from outside the van each time the rear door is opened to offload some cargo. Neglecting to install this switch will cause you several problems down the road, such as incurring higher costs to maintain required temperatures inside the van at all times.

Consult refrigerated van suppliers for additional help in formulating specifications that will help you to get refrigerated vans that will be effective and affordable to operate.
