I Like Driving in my Car

Hello, my name is David. Welcome to my blog. There is nothing I like more than hitting the open road and going for a drive in my car. I have always loved everything to do with automobiles. When I was a boy, I had a collection of 208 different toy cars which I would play with all day long. As soon as I was old enough, I began taking driving lessons and the day I passed was the best day of my life. Although I am not a mechanic, my dad taught me lots of neat tricks so I can keep my car in top condition. I hope you enjoy my blog.

The Importance Of Getting Good Quality Caravan Mirrors

Automotive Blog

A caravan mirror is an extension of your auto's wing mirrors. When purchasing your first caravan, it can be easy to overlook picking up this important piece of equipment. In fact, on any given day out on the road, you may well see a caravan being towed by an auto that doesn't have these mirrors attached to the vehicle. This is dangerous and puts the safety of  everyone at risk. This article takes a look at why having good quality caravan mirrors is a necessity and not a choice.

Complies With The Law

The law has a fair bit to say about towing a caravan. This is because, like all laws, they are in place for your own safety and the safety of others around you. According to regulations, you must be able to see from your wing mirrors. You also need to be able to see several meters behind the auto doing the towing. Good quality mirrors will comply with the law, while cheaper mirrors may not.

Increases Safety

The more you can see from the towing vehicle, the safer everybody is. Anyone who has towed a caravan before will know that to be overtaken by another vehicle is a common occurrence. However, bear in mind that sometimes, a caravan will have to overtake another vehicle, for instance, a tractor. It is critical that the driver towing the caravan has a clear view to the sides of the caravan so that both scenarios can be managed with minimal risk. Some of the poorer quality mirrors don't allow you a clear or a wide enough view of what is going on behind you, thereby compromising the safety of you and the other road users.

Good Quality Mirrors

Not surprisingly, there are many types of caravan mirrors available. Some are better than others. It is recommended that you purchase mirrors that are screwed into place. Other ways of securing the mirror, such as with straps or clips, are prone to falling off while you travel at high speeds. It is also not uncommon for the mirrors to move when you are being overtaken. Avoid this, and the above issues, by ensuring that you buy quality mirrors.

If you are put off by the price of a good quality pair of caravan mirrors, think about comparing the cost of the mirrors to the cost of a police fine for having illegal mirrors. You are also likely to get points on your driving licence if the mirrors you use are not up to the job.

For more information on caravan mirrors or caravan sales themselves, contact a caravan company, such as The Caravan Company Pty Ltd.
