I Like Driving in my Car

Hello, my name is David. Welcome to my blog. There is nothing I like more than hitting the open road and going for a drive in my car. I have always loved everything to do with automobiles. When I was a boy, I had a collection of 208 different toy cars which I would play with all day long. As soon as I was old enough, I began taking driving lessons and the day I passed was the best day of my life. Although I am not a mechanic, my dad taught me lots of neat tricks so I can keep my car in top condition. I hope you enjoy my blog.

3 Symptoms That Necessitate Immediate Car Transmission Flush

Blog

A transmission flush, popularly known as transmission fluid exchange, is type of auto service that replaces old automatic transmission fluid with new transmission fluid. With this type of service, the auto repair shop employs the use of a specialized machine to flush out all the old fluid. Generally, it is recommended that car owners get a transmission flush service after every two years. Nonetheless, there are certain scenarios where you need to seek a transmission fluid exchange sooner, in an effort to protect your vehicle's transmission. The following are three common signs that car owners should look out for because they point towards the need for immediate transmission flush.

Transmission grinding/weird noises

The symptoms displayed by vehicle transmission fluid that is polluted by grease, dirt and sludge are actually quite similar to those exhibited due to insufficient amounts of transmission fluid in a vehicle. When driving your car, if you hear weird sounds or your transmission grinding, you should immediately stop your car and check the level of the transmission fluid. If the level of transmission fluid is acceptable, then check the colour of the transmission fluid. Generally, the transmission fluid should be bright red. Therefore, transmission fluid that is black or brown due to sludge or grime necessitates a transmission flush.

Difficulty shifting gears

Whether you drive a manual or an automatic car, it needs uncontaminated transmission fluid that flows effortlessly right through your vehicle's transmission. A contaminated transmission fluid consisting of dirt or grease will result in a slow response due to dirt build-up in the transmission thus causing your car to change gears a lot quickly or too sluggishly while driving. As far as manual transmission cars are concerned, you may find it impossible to change the gears, much to your frustration. Therefore, there's need for the contaminants to be flushed out through transmission fluid exchange.

Surging of the car

Dirty or contaminated transmission fluid, which needs immediate flushing, is likely to cause surging of your car. Given that your vehicle's contaminated transmission doesn't allow for sufficient transmission fluid flow, your car may have a tendency to surge or jump forward and drop backwards for no apparent reason. This is as a result of erratic flow of transmission fluid. Fresh fluid is needed to guarantee smooth functioning of the gears and other mobile components within the transmission bell casing.

If your car is exhibiting the above mentioned symptoms, then your vehicle's transmission fluid is likely to be dirty or contaminated and requires urgent transmission flush or change at a professional transmission repair shop.
